MINIMUM LEVEL REQUIREMENTS

It is helpful to have a basic understanding of the VEC level system, since some elective courses have minimum level requirements. For example, students must be in Level 4 or higher to join the Preparation for Business English Program.

VEC levels are determined by written and oral tests, which evaluate students' abilities as they relate to VEC curricula. Therefore, it is not always possible to accurately estimate a student's level by simply using a TOEIC or TOEFL score. The tables below, however, indicate the typical TOEIC and TOEFL scores of students who have the minimum skills required to begin 5 of the 8 basic VEC levels.

Minimum Level Requirements for the Business Internship Program

Level 5 is the minimum level requirement for the Business Internship Program. Level 5 is an intermediate level. Students who are in Level 4 may join the four-week Preparation for Business English Program, which fast tracks them directly into the Business Internship Program. Students at lower levels generally find regular Conversation and Grammar courses more beneficial.
