Fares
in the Vancouver area are the same for
bus, SkyTrain and SeaBus. The fare you
pay depends on the time of day and the distance you travel. Fares
may be paid by cash or by purchasing tickets or passes before you
travel. Here's how the fare system works:
Regular Fares: Regular fares
are in effect weekdays from the start of the service day to 6:30
pm. During regular hours, the service area is divided into three
zones. The fare you pay depends on the number of zone boundaries
crossed. VEC students do not usually travel beyond Zone 1
or Zone 2.
Discount Fares: Discounted
fares are in effect weekdays after 6:30 pm to the end of the service
day, all day Saturday, Sunday and holidays. During discount hours,
zone boundaries do not apply.
Exact Change Please:
When boarding the bus, cash fares must be paid in exact change,
as the drivers do not provide change.
A monthly pass is available in One, Two or Three zone and Concession
fares. FareCards are valid for unlimited travel during the month
shown and are transferable.
