Cypress
Mountain is one of three magnificent ski mountains that can be seen
from downtown Vancouver. Cypress is probably best known for
its spectacular views. Ride to the top of Mount Strachan on a clear
day, and you'll see the Gulf and Vancouver islands to the west,
the mountains of Whistler to the north, and the city of Vancouver
to the south.
Downhill
Skiing at Cypress Mountain
Cypress boasts the most challenging terrain of the three resorts
within a half hour of downtown Vancouver. Though beginning
and intermediate skiers will find plenty of undulating runs, Mount
Strachan claims eight black-diamond runs -- and that's only
one of three mountains covered by Cypress.
The Cypress Mountain Ski School offers a host of 'Drop-in'
and multi day lesson programs to suit your needs and ability. Convenient
lesson times and knowledgeable, friendly instructors make these
packages excellent value no matter what your skill level.
Snowboarding at Cypress Mountain
The Cypress Mountain Snowboard School offers various lesson
programs. Cypress Mountain is the only mountain on the North
Shore chosen as a Burton LTR Method Centre to offer this revolutionary
NEW program from the top name in Snowboarding. Burton's NEW LTR
snowboards, bindings and boots are designed to reduce the difficulty
of learning to ride.
What about the Parks and Pipes? Well, whether spending quality time
in the halfpipe, or hitting sweet kickers and rails is your thing,
the Cypress snowboard park has it all. Located under the Midway
chair, be sure to remember your helmet for what guarantees to be
the best place on the North Shore for serious freestyle riding.
Cross Country Skiing at Cypress Mountain
With
over 19 kilometres of groomed trails, 7 kilometres of which are
lit at night, it is no wonder that Cypress Mountain is one of the
most popular cross country skiing destinations in Vancouver Canada.
Cypress Mountain is Canada's most popular Cross Country destination,
with a respected Ski School to match the beautiful and varied trail
system. A variety of lesson programs from single day clinics to
multi-session programs are offered for skiers of all ages and abilities.
There are lots of other winter activities at Cypress. You
can feel the thrill of sliding down chutes in a snow tube and let
the tube tow do all the work getting you back up the hill.
In the summer, you can enjoy the gorgeous views from many fine hiking
trails.
VEC Activities Coordinators frequently lead groups on skiing and
snowboarding adventures to Cypress. If you wish, you can also
take a Cypress Bowl shuttle from Vancouver. It leaves from four
locations throughout the day: the Park Royal Shopping Centre, Horseshoe
Bay (B.C. Ferries parking lot), Caulfield Shopping Centre in West
Vancouver and the Seabus Terminal in North Vancouver. For details,
call Cypress Bowl Sports: (604) 878-9229.
